This is my finals project for design class, an illustrated book of the mishaps I’ve had after getting my mean little cat. Hope you enjoy!

This was a photo I took of a mountain range in Colorado. As a class project, we were working on a piece focusing around surrealism, where we took something that does not exist in reality and add it to an image we have taken in the past to create a realistic but imaginative piece. I decided to focus on dragons because I become a bit of a dork when it comes to anything fantasy related (Skyrim, dungeons and dragons, etc.) so I had a ton of fun making this because really, the sky is the limit here. I brought in some images of free flying dragons and added them to my photograph and edited it all in a way to achieve the look of an photograph capturing these dragons and a distant castle within. The goal for me was to make the unreal as real as possible. So the faint blur and mist around the dragons I did intentionally, so they would not become an eyesore from their previously pixally state and to kind of imitate that capturing of movement that we see with so many photographs.

So this wa my final results for our first photography project. I’ve never messed around with photoshop before this so all in all it was a very enlightening experience. I learned a lot and I’m pretty happy with the results! It’s really broadened my perspective quite a bit and I’m glad to be getting this great experience.:)

These are a few photos that I played around with in different editing software. I love the popping colors and really turning the pictures into something else entirely. The almost mosaic-looking picture is actually a close up of the veins of an autumn leaf that I took on a walk one day.

Break the Chains that Bind You

This was a piece I had been workin on and off and on and I thought it would be a good one to share here. A lot of my pieces are actually an emotional representation in some form or another on the inner workings of my mind and my have struggled with severe anxiety and depression throughout my life so a lot of my pieces can seem quite dark and morbid at times. Although I do create a lot of my artwork from a dark period in my life, I still Enjoy creating them as a way to commemorate just how far I’ve come and how much I’ve accomplished in conquering my fears and growing stronger as a person. My artwork is kind of like a solidified version of my mental scars, that I can look back at and be proud of. To smile and know that the once gaping wounds in my heart are now closed and healed and that I am stronger than ever. This piece specifically, sort of represents my anxiety and fears and how they restrained me for so long from being able to just be happy. The chains also represent the amount

As part of a class project, we were instructed to make an expressive piece dedicated to someone we feel has changed history or played an important/incitful role. So I chose to dedicate my project to the wonderful Susan Boyle, an inspirational and courageous woman who pursued her dreams until she conquered them, even while being under the constant scrutiny of others. She truly is a wonderful example of having strength and determination even when everyone tells you can’t do anything you set you heart on. I truly take this lesson to heart, not letting society’s opinion of me rule how I live my life. I wish to stay strong and conquer what I wish to achieve by my own merit and that is why I chose this amazing woman to be the inspiration for this project.
